The Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area (HSPA) is a 501(c)(3) PA non-profit corporation and all donations should be tax exempt although we encourage doners to consult with their financial advisor, accountant or legal counsel about the tax implications of any gift or bequest.

History helps us to realize our place in the world and our individual responsibility to our family, neighbors, community, and world.  It makes us think about the legacy we will leave.   Through your Will, you have the opportunity to make changes in the world around you.  In fact, our values may not be represented in the world if we don’t make that investment. You don’t have to be wealthy to leave a legacy that will affect the lives of the people you touch. 

By remembering the Historical Society of the Phoenixvlle Area in your Will, you can insure that your values will help influence others in the future and will assist the Historical Society of the Phoenixvlle Area to accomplish its mission as articulated in the Mission Statement that appears below on this web page.  Leaving to the Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area a percentage or a specific dollar amount of your estate or including the Historical Society of the Phoenixvlle Area as a beneficuary in a life insurance policy is easy to do.  We would like to assist you to accomplish that objective.

Confidentiality and Recognition

There is no obligation to notify the Historical Society of the Phoenixvlle Area about your bequest, although we encourage you to consider informing the Historical Society of the Phoenixvlle Area about your intentions.  Our Investment and Endowment Committee would be happy to work with you and your financial advisors, accountants or legal advisors to develop bequest language and endowment descriptions that will be mutually beneficial to you and to the Historical Society of the Phoenixvlle Area.

The Historical Society of the Phoenixvlle Area gives special recognition to all who have included the Historical Society of the Phoenixvlle Area in their Will unless anonymity is requested. Please complete and return the Endowment Gift Form that can be found on this web site or please contact the Historical Society of the Phoenixvlle Area about obtaining the form.  All bequest information will be held in the strictest of confidence. 

Please note that the Historical Society of the Phoenixvlle Area reserves the right not to accept any gift or bequest that is under $10,000 in value that imposes any restrictions on its use or on its investment vehicle such as investments in specific stocks, bonds, mutual funds or exchange traded funds. 

Although the Historical Society of the Phoenixvlle Area cannot make any representations about the tax implications of a gift or bequest in a Will, we suggest that you consult with your financial advisor, accountant or legal counsel about the tax implications of any gift or bequest in your Will.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area is to identify, collect, preserve, interpret, and disseminate materials and information pertaining to Phoenixville area history in order to assist and educate the public in understanding and appreciating their Phoenixville area heritage and how it relates to their lives.



Above is a 1910 photo of the Central Lutheran Church, which is now the home of the Society.  Below is a pre 1905 photo of the structure.  Below that photo is a pre 1873 photo of  a Mennonite Meeting House that pre-dated the Central Lutheran Church structure.
